NEW Saiga 12 Sporter stock set for original unconverted Saiga 12 shotguns.

We have created a really nice 2 piece set, with the shape based directly from a Benelli M121 police military type shotgun. The ergonomics are far superior to the original cheap plastic sets that originally come with Saiga 12s. Butt stock comb drop has much better feel than straight combed original. Hand guard has fatter bottom, and deeper finger grooves. Pics are of first cut prototypes. Hand guard options/changes are in the works

Information on our new Russian Red finish option. After researching in depth what the Russian Red finish was created with, we finally came

up with our current Shellac based formula. The color we went with was based on the unissued Soviet AKM pistol grip as shown below in the

photos. According to research that we did, this was one of maybe 4 different red variants that the Soviets made. As seen below, the finish is

pretty much identical in color and in its shimmer. The application is done by hand with a brush. 4 coats are applied to the exterior surfaces

only, like original Soviet era stocks. It was deduced that Shellac was used on original Russian AK stocks after having applied denatured

alcohol to some old original Soviet stocks that we had on hand. The alcohol dissolved the original red finish, and left the wood bare, in the

white. Denatured alcohol dissolves Shellac, and is actually an ingredient in commercial ready to apply Shellacs. Regardless of what type of

Shellac, or what additives the Russian stock finishers applied, what we have come up with is the most authentic finish, based on this specific

color, that we could achieve with commercially available products. Like the originals, there can be small runs or heavy spots from the brushed on finish. We do our best to create the smoothest finish, but also strive to recreate the look and feel of the old school Soviet parts.

Because it is hand applied Shellac, it takes longer to create the finish, as extra days are needed to let each coat cure before applying the

next coat. So when ordering a finished set, please allow an extra week or so for us to complete the process correctly.

as much of gas tube as possible, and to ensure hand guard structural integrity.

Also working on sling mount set up. Original

screw and swivel bushing stick out to far.

and custom made mounting screw.


Stay tuned for final version.

Our last VEPR SVD hand guard test cut. This

version is positioned in between the heights of our

first 2 test parts. Shown with std. AK swivel. We

have not yet decided if we are going to offer them

with this swivel type, or with a custom made sling

swivel stud.

Also shown is our new AKM stock cut for the

VEPR angle cut receiver. This eliminates the need

for the adaptors that have recently shown up on

the market. Will have this posted shortly on the site. It is available to order now.

Photos do not show as well as they could, but front

and rear end are rounded over, (sanded), which

definitely softens the previous test cut part look.
